Present.ly = Pownce & Yammer!?

14 September 2008

Shortly after writing my two cents about “Microblogging as Corporate Tool” at our Enterprise 2.0 Community Blog I was poked by Hagen Fisbeck to have a look a Present.ly -  well, though being a member of the Advisory Board of the Web 2.0 Expo Europe I do not have a beta invite for this interesting micro blogging tool that is announced to be launched at the Web 2.0 Expo New York in three days. But from the first glance at the website information it is for me much more powerful than Yammer - because of (1) the group functionality as it takes in account Reed’s Law with the possibility of sub-dividing my corporate network into more homogenous circles with more relevance, (2) the media sharing functionality which broadens the richness of information being distributed via this channel, and (3) the Twitter-alike API that gives eventually the possibility to use existing desktop clients as well as allows the creation of other third-party tools by using the service as a messaging system.

I would be very happy to have an invite to explore this further - but I will definitely try it on Sept. 16th.
